{"id":418,"date":"2011-06-07T08:00:00","date_gmt":"2011-06-07T16:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jsgreene.com\/blog\/?p=418"},"modified":"2011-06-07T08:00:00","modified_gmt":"2011-06-07T16:00:00","slug":"greene-ink-press-website","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.jsgreene.com\/blog\/?p=418","title":{"rendered":"Greene Ink Press Website"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-433\" href=\"http:\/\/www.jsgreene.com\/blog\/?attachment_id=433\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-433\" title=\"Greene Ink Press Placeholder Website\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.jsgreene.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/greeneinkpress-300x206.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"206\" \/><\/a>One of the things I did in late April was expand my sister-in-law Kendra&#8217;s website, <a title=\"Greene Ink Press\" href=\"http:\/\/www.greeneinkpress.com\">Greene Ink Press<\/a>. \u00a0Last year Kendra asked for a website for her birthday, to show some of the work she had been doing as a result of her schooling at the <a title=\"University of Iowa's Center for the Book\" href=\"http:\/\/book.grad.uiowa.edu\/\">University of Iowa&#8217;s Center For the Book<\/a>. \u00a0Kendra is in their nonfiction writing graduate program, but was also taking all sorts of really neat classes in book binding, letterpress, etc. \u00a0So, last year due to time constraints and wanting to think through her website a bit, we put up a placeholder website displaying some of her work and promising more to come.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-434\" href=\"http:\/\/www.jsgreene.com\/blog\/?attachment_id=434\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-434\" title=\"Greene Ink Press Website\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.jsgreene.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/kendra-300x217.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"217\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jsgreene.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/kendra-300x217.png 300w, https:\/\/www.jsgreene.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/kendra-768x556.png 768w, https:\/\/www.jsgreene.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/kendra.png 989w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>After some time, Kendra was able to think through the content she wanted on her website and how she wanted it displayed, so I was set to work again, pulling it all together to put on display how truly talented she really is. \u00a0Her new website has beautiful pictures of her artist&#8217;s books (books that she has bound that convey a story or concept she&#8217;s written), essays she&#8217;s written that have been published, posters she&#8217;s designed and printed via letterpress, broadsides (a type of poster) she&#8217;s done via letterpress, and blank books that she has artistically bound.<\/p>\n<p>One of the things that was a bit of a challenge\/learning experience for me with Kendra&#8217;s website is that she wanted her website users to be able to click through and read her artist&#8217;s books in particular. \u00a0I researched a bit about how to do this well, and found a wonderful extension that adds a programming bit to the page that allows for users to click on a photo and then it enlarges it and allows the user to scroll through all of the photos on that page. \u00a0It was a bit stressful for me until I found that solution but, now that it&#8217;s done, I think it looks great.<\/p>\n<p>Check it all out for yourself: <a title=\"Greene Ink Press\" href=\"http:\/\/www.greeneinkpress.com\">http:\/\/www.greeneinkpress.com<\/a>. \u00a0Kendra was really excited about the website, bubbling over on how great it looks (which I agree &#8212;
